Niykee continues to write songs, even though she has been caught up in the latest chaos. Her selection was made for the YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and Snoop was on stage with her. The songwriting process is a source of inspiration for hopeful producers. Niykee constantly listens to music and comes across beats which spark thoughts. "I'll be able to discern in the first five minutes if this is a quality beat. Once I have a melody in my brain and I begin to write immediately." If I am sitting at my front porch, playing guitar, lyrics will come out and can be written in fewer than thirty minutes. Niykee states that, as she matures as a singer-songwriter and musician, her memories of her childhood serve as an inspiration. "Even even if I'm not writing about my life directly, the sadness of losing my sister and my painful childhood experiences are integrated into my music," she says. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and adds a greater meaning, which I find very important. I would like to be able listen to my music 20 years from now and feel proud of what I have to say.
