She started singing gospel songs when she was in her teens, after having spent her early years in the church. Perry enjoyed all kinds of music, even though her parents didn't allow her to, as she was always attracted to music. Perry was a flamboyant and passionate person who aimed to fulfill her dream to become a musician. It wasn't easy in the beginning, and she was faced with a variety of challenges before she got her first significant break. Her record label had to place a large portion of her song on hold prior to signing with Capitol Records. The singer was now professional and she hasn't looked back since. The album she released next, "Teenage Dreams", that enthralled many musicians and was one of the most popular albums to date. The album was the catalyst for many record-breaking albums and cemented her place as an acclaimed musician. Perry's philanthropic efforts are not simply attributed to her song performer and writer as well as the many records she has made. Perry is a gay rights activist.
